The Board of Directors take great pleasure in announcing that Heather Sonn has been appointed Chairperson of the Board and Andre Bezuidenhout has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer, with Mike Miller now performing the role of Group Corporate Affairs Officer.
Heather Sonn is the Managing Director of Gamiro Holdings. She is committed to creating successful sustainable legacy businesses based in South Africa through sound commercial practices as well as delivering positive social returns.
Howard Blake, the Founder of the Blake Group in 1990, will continue the role of setting Group strategic direction, identifying and engaging partnerships and acquisition prospects. He and the Blake leadership team are driving the digital transformation of Blake to ensure sustainable, balanced growth and value creation for the company.
Holding a Bachelor of Accounting Science, Mike joined Blake & Associates in 1993. Mike performed the role of CEO for 17 years. In his role as Corporate Affairs Officer, he continues to contribute to the Group’s business strategy as a trusted advisor to the CEO and the Blake senior leadership team.
With a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Andre spent the early part of his career in the KZN sugar industry. Looking for new challenges, he occupied various strategic management consulting roles and consulted to a wide array of blue chip listed entities and state-owned entities over a period of five years.
Tracey has a strong management background. After spending 20 years at a leading Bank, mainly as a Global Account Executive in their Corporate Banking Division, she joined the Blake family in 2009. Here, she has been actively involved in ongoing client relations, product development, the overseeing of tender opportunities and development of sales and group strategies. Tracey is Director of BPeSA KZN and ADRA.
With multiple qualifications that include a BCom in Management, a Diploma in Banking, a Specialist Banking Management Program, and a Certificate in Legal Debt Collecting, Dave has strong academic credentials. Dave joined Blake & Associates in 2002 as Senior Collections Manager.
Following the completion of a B Juris, De Waal joined Blake & Associates in 1994 as a Legal Clerk. He now holds the position of Chief Information Officer. De Waal brings a logical approach to Blake and with his legal backing, he is also able to add valuable input in relation to regulatory matters.
Since becoming a CA(SA) in 2008, Jonathan gained valuable experience in retail and manufacturing environments before joining Blake. He now holds the position of Finance Executive for the Blake Group where he is responsible for the Group’s finance and accounting function. Jonathan plays a strategic role at Executive and Board level in ensuring that the Group’s finances are aligned with its goals and objectives.
Devon is the Commercial Director responsible for investment operations and project implementation for Gamiro. He brings a broad perspective of investment management and business strategy acquired through his 15+ years of experience as an equity derivatives trader and structured products specialist for a number of local and international banks.
Crispin is a Director of Gamiro Holdings since August 2014. Prior to this Crispin spent over 12 years in the South African operations of a global insurance and investment company. In his last role he was the Managing Director of the South African retail mass market business that employed more than 7 000 people and included the lending, group insurance, short term insurance and foundation market business units.
